Albany is the capital of the U.S. state of New York and the seat of Albany County. Kick off your visit on the 15th (Thu): learn more about the world around you at New York State Museum, then get engrossed in the history at USS Slater DE-766, and then get a sense of history and politics at New York State Capitol.

Poughkeepsie, officially the City of Poughkeepsie, is a city in the state of New York, United States, which is the county seat of Dutchess County. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Poughkeepsie: Olana State Historic Site (in Hudson), Saugerties Lighthouse (in Saugerties) and Storm King Art Center (in New Windsor). There's much more to do: take in the views from Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park, steep yourself in history at Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site, and get engrossed in the history at Franklin D.
