Des Moines — 1 night

Des Moines is the capital and the most populous city in the U.S. state of Iowa. On the 24th (Fri), cool off at Adventureland, then meet the residents at Blank Park Zoo, and then walk around Pappajohn Sculpture Park. Here are some ideas for day two: hunt for treasures at Downtown Farmers Market, then get a sense of history and politics at Capitol Building, and then admire the natural beauty at Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden.
