Jekyll Island — 1 night

Start off your visit on the 5th (Sun): see the top attractions with Sightseeing Tours, then steep yourself in history at Horton House, and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Driftwood Beach. On your second day here, identify plant and animal life at Georgia Sea Turtle Center, take a stroll through Jekyll Island Historic District, and then don't miss a visit to Faith Chapel.

Durham to Jekyll Island is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and taxi. In March, Jekyll Island is a bit warmer than Durham - with highs of 69°F and lows of 51°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Mon) to allow time to fly to Durham.

On the 7th (Tue), steep yourself in history at Old Town Cemetery, then take a stroll through Golden Belt Historic District, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Duke University Chapel, and finally admire the natural beauty at Sarah P. Duke Gardens. Keep things going the next day: engage your brain at Marbles Kids Museum, then get a new perspective on nature at North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, and then admire the masterpieces at North Carolina Museum of Art.

You can fly from Jekyll Island to Durham in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of taxi and train. In March, Durham is a bit cooler than Jekyll Island - with highs of 61°F and lows of 38°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Wed) so you can travel back home.
