Truckee is an incorporated town in Nevada County, California, United States. Start off your visit on the 22nd (Fri): stroll through Northstar California. On the 23rd (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: explore the galleries of Donner Memorial State Park and Emigrant Trail Museum, ski along the peaceful trails at Tahoe Cross Country, and then kick back and relax at Sand Harbor.

Los Angeles to Truckee is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and train. Expect cooler temperatures when traveling from Los Angeles in January; daily highs in Truckee reach 41°F and lows reach 16°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Sat) early enough to go by car to South Lake Tahoe.

You can drive from Truckee to South Lake Tahoe in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In January, plan for daily highs up to 45°F, and evening lows to 19°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 25th (Mon) so you can travel back home.
