Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Shop till you drop at Royal Street and Frenchmen Street. You'll explore and learn at The National WWII Museum and Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World. Step out of New Orleans with an excursion to Lake End Park in Morgan City--about 1h 30 min away. Spend the 29th (Mon) exploring nature at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. The adventure continues: get to know the fascinating history of Garden District, meet the residents at Audubon Zoo, wander the streets of French Quarter, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. Louis Cathedral.

To find ratings, maps, other places to visit, and more tourist information, you can read our New Orleans trip planner.

Expect a daytime high around 66°F in October, and nighttime lows around 66°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 31st (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
