The Big Easy

Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Your day by day itinerary now includes French Quarter Phantoms. Step off the beaten path and head to The Historic New Orleans Collection and Jamie Hayes Gallery. You'll explore and learn at New Orleans Pharmacy Museum and The Presbytere. There's still lots to do: appreciate the history behind Our Sacred Stories, admire the masterpieces at The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden at NOMA, steep yourself in history at Hermann-Grima House, and admire the landmark architecture of Destrehan Plantation.

To see where to stay, ratings, photos, and more tourist information, you can read our New Orleans trip planner.

Detroit to New Orleans is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also fly; or drive; or take a train. The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time to Central Standard Time is minus 1 hour. Traveling from Detroit in November, you will find days in New Orleans are a bit warmer (62°F), and nights are much warmer (61°F). Cap off your sightseeing on the 10th (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
