Big Apple

Writer Pearl Buck once called New York City “a place apart,” and this giant urban center remains unlike any other in the world.
Kick off your visit on the 13th (Wed): don't miss a visit to Times Square, settle in for a delightful tour with a horse-drawn carriage tour, then pause for some serene contemplation at St. Patrick's Cathedral, and finally wander the streets of Fifth Avenue. On the next day, examine the collection at New York Public Library, examine the collection at Ground Zero Museum Workshop, then browse the eclectic array of goods at Chelsea Market, then take a stroll through Greenwich Village, and finally visit SoHo.

For photos, traveler tips, more things to do, and tourist information, refer to the New York City journey planner.

Tampa to New York City is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also fly; or drive; or take a bus. Prepare for much colder weather when traveling from Tampa in January: high temperatures in New York City hover around 40°F and lows are around 24°F. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 15th (Fri) to allow enough time to travel back home.
