National History, Local Flavor

Located just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., the county of Arlington blends big city and sprawling suburban environments.
Attractions like Arlington National Cemetery and The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier make great kid-friendly stops. Venture out of the city with trips to The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring (in Sandy Spring), George Washington's Mount Vernon (in Mount Vernon) and Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (in Chantilly). There's much more to do: take in the history at Gettysburg National Military Park, stroll the grounds of Gettysburg National Cemetery, take a stroll through Old Town, and go on a hair-raising tour with a ghost and vampire tour.
