Opelika is a city in and the county seat of Lee County in the east central part of the State of Alabama. Kids will appreciate attractions like National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center and Wild Animal Safari. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Great Wolf Lodge and Little Nadine's Grave. Change things up with a short trip to McClelland's Critters Zoo in Banks (about 1h 30 min away). There's still lots to do: look for gifts at Tiger Town and examine the collection at Museum of East Alabama.

For reviews, where to stay, other places to visit, and other tourist information, read our Opelika travel route planner .

In July, daily temperatures in Opelika can reach 89°F, while at night they dip to 71°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 4th (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
