The Forest City

Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Edgecomb Potters, DiMillo's Old Port Marina, Portland Head Light, and other attractions you added. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: visit a coastal fixture at Portland Head Light and then go for a stroll along the water at DiMillo's Old Port Marina.

To find where to stay, reviews, other places to visit, and more tourist information, refer to the Portland road trip site.

Boston to Portland is an approximately 2-hour car ride. You can also take a bus; or take a train. Traveling from Boston in May, expect a bit cooler with lows of 45°F in Portland. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 17th (Mon) to allow time for the car ride back home.
