The Forest City

Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
Step off the beaten path and head to Eastern Promenade Trail and Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse. Get in touch with nature at Casco Bay and St. Anthony's Monastery. Change things up with these side-trips from Portland: Parson's Way (in Kennebunkport) and Gooch's Beach (in Kennebunk). And it doesn't end there: visit a coastal fixture at Portland Breakwater Lighthouse, sample the tasty concoctions at Rising Tide Brewing Company, enjoy the sand and surf at Willard Beach, and step off the mainland to explore Mackworth Island.

Bloomfield to Portland is an approximately 4-hour combination of car and flight. You can also drive. Traveling from Bloomfield in June, expect Portland to be little chillier, temps between 73°F and 54°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 17th (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
