Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park — 3 nights
With mountain peaks reaching past 4,250 m (14,000 ft) and trees stretching to over 75 m (250 ft) high, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks present nature on a grand scale.Visit Mt. Whitney Fish Hatchery and Manzanar National Historic Site for their historical value. Take a break from the city and head to Mount Whitney Trail and Roaring River Falls. Get out of town with these interesting Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park side-trips: Lone Pine Creek (in Lone Pine) and Eastern California Museum (in Independence). There's still lots to do: stroll through Mt. Whitney and hike along Big Stump Basin.
