Vernal, the county seat and largest city in Uintah County is in northeastern Utah, United States, about 175mi east of Salt Lake City and west of the Colorado border. Get some historical perspective at McConkie Ranch and Red Fleet State Park. You'll explore and learn at Utah Field House of Natural History State Park and Uintah County Heritage Museum. Change things up with these side-trips from Vernal: Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area (in Manila) and Sand Wash Basin (in Maybell). There's still lots to do: let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour, explore the striking landscape at Moonshine Arch, and explore the striking landscape of Dinosaur National Monument visitor center.

To find traveler tips, other places to visit, photos, and other tourist information, read Vernal trip planner.

July in Vernal sees daily highs of 91°F and lows of 59°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
