Durango

— 40 nights
Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
Get out of town with these interesting Durango side-trips: Aztec (Aztec Ruins National Monument & Aztec Museum and Pioneer Village), Farmington (Lions Wilderness Disc Golf Course, Pinon Hills Golf Course, &more) and Cortez (Notah Dineh Trading Company and Museum, Hovenweep National Monument, &more). Spend the 18th (Fri) exploring nature at Mesa Verde National Park. The adventure continues: see Off-Road Tours, learn about winemaking at Four Leaves Winery, explore the activities along Animas River, and get interesting insight from Tours.

Expect a daytime high around 68°F in May, and nighttime lows around 35°F.
