Founded in 1859 as part of the Gold Rush in the Rockies, Breckenridge boasts a main street lined with colorful wooden storefronts housing cafes and shops, giving the effect of a thriving western town from the 19th century.
Visiting Rio Grande Trail and Boreas Pass Road will get you outdoors. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Gene Taylor Sports and Breckenridge Hat Company. Get out of town with these interesting Breckenridge side-trips: Rock Hut (in Leadville), River Rafting & Tubing (in Buena Vista) and Aspen (The John Denver Sanctuary, Maroon Lake Scenic Trail, & more). Plan for a bit warmer temperatures traveling from Breckenridge in July, with highs in Rapid City at 85°F and lows at 62°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 26th (Thu) so you can travel to Jackson Hole.

Do a combination of flight and taxi from Rapid City to Jackson Hole in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and shuttle. Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Rapid City in July: high temperatures in Jackson Hole hover around 79°F and lows are around 44°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Cody.
