Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Start off your visit on the 1st (Sat): brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Old New Orleans Rum Distillery, admire the masterpieces at The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden at NOMA, then admire the landmark architecture of Destrehan Plantation, then explore the different monuments and memorials at Lake Lawn Metairie, and finally wander the streets of Magazine Street. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: explore the wealth of natural beauty at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve.
