Vancouver is a city on the north bank of the Columbia River in the U.S. Attractions like Mount St. Helens Visitor Center and Rice NW Museum of Rocks and Minerals make great kid-friendly stops. Venture out of the city with trips to Astoria (Fort Clatsop National Memorial, Fort Stevens State Park, & more), Warrenton (Battery Russell & Peter Iredale Ship Wreck) and Cascade Locks (Sturgeon Viewing Pond and Interpretive Center, Oneonta Gorge, & more). There's much more to do: browse the fresh offerings at Esther Short Park, appreciate the extensive heritage of Officers' Row, steep yourself in history at Fort Vancouver | National Historic Site, and admire the striking features of Vista House.

In August, plan for daily highs up to 84°F, and evening lows to 59°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
