Known as a ski resort town, Aspen's history goes back to its roots as a silver-mining village tucked away in an isolated valley of the Rocky Mountains.
Step out of Aspen with an excursion to Thermal Spas in Glenwood Springs--about 1h 25 min away. On the 17th (Fri), spend an exhilarating day on the slopes at Aspen Highlands. On the 18th (Sat), dedicate a day to the elevated beauty of Buttermilk Mountain. There's still lots to do: fly down the slopes at Aspen Snowmass, pause for some photo ops at The John Denver Sanctuary, take in the awesome beauty at Maroon Bells, and get lost in a book at Pitkin County Library.
