Get out of town with these interesting Bend side-trips: Sisters (Cascade Street Distillery, City of Sisters, &more), La Pine (La Pine State Park, Lava Cast Forest Trail, &more) and Redmond (Tumalo Mountain & Smith Rock State Park). There's lots more to do: let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour, see the interesting displays at High Desert Museum, admire the sheer force of Tumalo Falls, and trek along Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint.

Durham to Bend is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. You'll gain 3 hours traveling from Durham to Bend due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Durham in August, expect slightly colder with lows of 52°F in Bend. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 23rd (Mon) early enough to drive to Maupin.
