Lake George

Queen of the American Lakes

A playground for America’s wealthy families, Lake George was nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes." While these families often stayed in private country houses, a tourism industry built up around them in the early 20th century facilitated by two YMCAs.
Kick off your visit on the 12th (Wed): explore the activities along Lake George, learn about winemaking at Adirondack Winery, then take an in-depth tour of The Fort William Henry Museum & Restoration, and finally trot along with a tour on horseback. On the 13th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: stop by Lake George Olive Oil Co., catch the contagious excitement of Saratoga Race Course, then cool off at The Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor, and finally take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports.

To find photos, other places to visit, maps, and other tourist information, go to the Lake George travel route tool.

Souderton to Lake George is an approximately 4.5-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of car and flight. In August, daytime highs in Lake George are 80°F, while nighttime lows are 57°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 13th (Thu) early enough to drive to Lake Placid.
