A playground for America’s wealthy families, Lake George was nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes." While these families often stayed in private country houses, a tourism industry built up around them in the early 20th century facilitated by two YMCAs.
For shopping fun, head to The Hyde Collection Art Museum and Historic Home or Gunnison Lakeshore Orchards. Get outdoors at Prospect Mountain and Lumberjack Pass Miniature Golf. Explore Lake George's surroundings by going to Schroon Lake (Paradox Brewery & Schroon Lake Town Beach). And it doesn't end there: do a tasting at Adirondack Winery, indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas, explore the activities along Lake George, and enjoy the sand and surf at Million Dollar Beach.
