Queen of the American Lakes

A playground for America’s wealthy families, Lake George was nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes." While these families often stayed in private country houses, a tourism industry built up around them in the early 20th century facilitated by two YMCAs.

Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, United States. Start off your visit on the 27th (Sat): explore the activities along Mirror Lake, steep yourself in history at John Brown Farm State Historic Site, and then take in the awesome beauty at Whiteface Mountain. Here are some ideas for day two: get great views at Olympic Ski Jump Complex, explore the stunning scenery at Ausable Chasm, and then steep yourself in history at Crown Point State Historic Site.
