The Capital of the South
Georgia’s largest city and capital, Atlanta is a thriving metropolis anchored by its southern roots.Take a break from the city and head to Stone Mountain Park and Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park. Popular historic sites such as Centennial Olympic Park and Cedar Lane Cemetery are in your itinerary. Change things up with these side-trips from Atlanta: St. Joseph's Catholic Church (in Macon), Cartersville (Tellus Science Museum, Booth Western Art Museum, &more) and Panola Mountain State Park (in Stockbridge). The adventure continues: examine the collection at World of Coca-Cola, steep yourself in history at Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, admire the masterpieces at National Center for Civil and Human Rights, and have fun and explore at Interact Art Museum.
