Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Start off your visit on the 15th (Thu): stroll through Dinosaur Ridge, see the interesting displays at Colorado Railroad Museum, and then identify plant and animal life at Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center.

Kick off your visit on the 16th (Fri): do a tasting at The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey and then explore the historical opulence of Glen Eyrie Castle. On your second day here, examine the collection at Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center, thenlook for all kinds of wild species at Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, and then steep yourself in history at Old Homestead House Museum.
