Cape May represents the other Jersey Shore--the one you don't see on TV--the one with a rich history and a refined, relaxed atmosphere.

Take a break from Cape May with a short trip to Ocean City Boardwalk in Ocean City, about 40 minutes away. There's lots more to do: stroll through Cape May City Beaches, admire nature's wide array of creatures at Cape May County Park & Zoo, kick back and relax at Wildwood Beach, and get great views at World War II Lookout Tower.

Newark to Cape May is an approximately 3-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of train, tram, and bus; or do a combination of train and bus. In August, plan for daily highs up to 82°F, and evening lows to 66°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 27th (Tue) so you can go by car to Chincoteague Island.

Famous for a wild breed of horses--Chincoteague Ponies--Chincoteague Island embraces the mystery of some of North America’s oldest inhabitants.

Start off your visit on the 28th (Wed): identify plant and animal life at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, then stop by Captain Steve's Bait and Tackle, and then make a trip to Chincoteague Cultural Alliance. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 29th (Thu): get outside with Donald J. Leonard and then surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour.

In August, daily temperatures in Chincoteague Island can reach 84°F, while at night they dip to 68°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Thu) so you can go by car back home.
