Mile-High City

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Step out of the city life by going to Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center and Dinosaur Ridge. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Cheyenne Depot Museum and Wyoming State Museum. Change things up with these side-trips from Denver: Estes Park (Aspen and Evergreen Gallery, Images of Rocky Mountain National Park, &more) and Historic Governors' Mansion (in Cheyenne). There's much more to do: see the interesting displays at National Ballpark Museum, steep yourself in history at Molly Brown House Museum, explore the world behind art at Clyfford Still Museum, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

To see more things to do, ratings, traveler tips, and other tourist information, refer to the Denver online tour planner.

In June, plan for daily highs up to 83°F, and evening lows to 55°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
