Durango

— 4 nights
Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Durango: Cortez (Cortez Cultural Center & Notah Dineh Trading Company and Museum), The Anasazi Heritage Center (in Dolores) and Four Corners Monument (in Teec Nos Pos). There's still lots to do: take a peaceful walk through San Juan National Forest, let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour, don't miss a visit to Historic Downtown Durango, and hike along Animas River Trail.

To find ratings, other places to visit, reviews, and other tourist information, refer to the Durango holiday maker website.

In April, plan for daily highs up to 62°F, and evening lows to 28°F.
