Queens is the easternmost and largest in area of the five boroughs of New York City. Kick off your visit on the 4th (Sun): stroll around World Trade Center's Liberty Park, then appreciate the history behind Statue of Liberty National Monument, then take an in-depth tour of Louis Armstrong House Museum, and finally take in panoramic vistas at Empire State Building. On the next day, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Patrick's Cathedral and then stroll around Central Park.

Traveling by flight from Boston to Queens takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. In August, daily temperatures in Queens can reach 84°F, while at night they dip to 70°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 5th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Bronx.

The northernmost New York City borough, the Bronx has many claims to fame, including being the birthplace of hip-hop and home of the New York Yankees.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Tue): get to know the resident critters at Bronx Zoo, take in nature's colorful creations at New York Botanical Garden, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto.
