Sitting on the shores of Alaska's longest fjord and surrounded by mountains, the port city of Haines boasts spectacular scenery.

Haines is known for wildlife, museums, and nature. Ketchikan to Haines is an approximately 9-hour combination of ferry and flight. You can also ride a ferry. Traveling from Ketchikan in November, things will get little chillier in Haines: highs are around 34°F and lows about 26°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 10th (Thu) early enough to travel to Palmer.

Palmer is the borough seat of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. On the 11th (Fri), see Off-Road Tours, then stroll through Pioneer Falls, and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Independence Mine State Historical Park.
