Jackson, officially the City of Jackson, is the capital city and largest urban center of the U.S. Visit First Presbyterian Church and Old Capitol Museum for their historical value. Discover out-of-the-way places like Mississippi Civil Rights Museum and Poverty Point World Heritage Site. Explore Jackson's surroundings by going to Natchez National Cemetery (in Natchez), Vicksburg (The Old Depot Museum, Jesse Brent Lower Mississippi River Museum and Interpretive Center, & more) and Grand Gulf Military Park (in Port Gibson). There's still lots to do: get a sense of history and politics at Mississippi State Capitol, pick up a one of a kind souvenir at Antique Mall of the South, revel in the low prices at Outlets of Mississippi, and explore the world behind art at Mississippi Museum of Art.

To find reviews, where to stay, more things to do, and other tourist information, read Jackson planning site .

Expect a daytime high around 82°F in May, and nighttime lows around 62°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 27th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
