Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll

The largest city on the Mississippi River, Memphis bills itself as both the "Birthplace of Rock" and "Home of the Blues." With such a rich musical heritage, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Elvis Presley chose to live in Memphis during his later years.
Start off your visit on the 13th (Thu): make a trip to Beale Street, then take an in-depth tour of National Civil Rights Museum - Lorraine Motel, and then steep yourself in history at Sun Studio. Keep things going the next day: examine the collection at Graceland, steep yourself in history at The Peabody Ducks, and then sample the fine beverages at Pyramid Vodka.

Once saddled with the reputation of being one of the country's dirtiest cities, Chattanooga now boasts a pedestrian-friendly downtown with a network of leafy waterfront trails and free electric shuttles.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Sat): snap pictures at Walnut Street Bridge, then admire nature's wide array of creatures at Tennessee Aquarium, and then explore the fascinating underground world of Ruby Falls. On the 16th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the history at Chickamauga Battlefield and then get great views at Lookout Mountain.
