Minneapolis — 1 night

Located on both banks of the Mississippi River, Minneapolis salutes the state's love of the outdoors with numerous lakes, wetlands, creeks, and waterfalls--many connected to one another by a national scenic byway great for sightseeing.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Sun): have some family-friendly fun at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory and then explore the world behind art at Minneapolis Institute of Art. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: make a trip to Minnehaha Falls, take in the dramatic scenery at Minnehaha Park, and then buy something for everyone on your list at Mall of America.

San Francisco to Minneapolis is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of subway, train, and bus. Duluth — 3 nights

Situated on the westernmost point of the Lake Superior, Duluth represents a booming port city.
Get some cultural insight at Split Rock Lighthouse and Lakewalk. Take a break from Duluth with a short trip to Gooseberry Falls State Park in Two Harbors, about 50 minutes away. There's still lots to do: cruise along Minnesota's North Shore Scenic Drive, take in the views from Aerial Lift Bridge, get engrossed in the history at Glensheen, The Historic Congdon Estate, and test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms.

Traveling by flight from Minneapolis to Duluth takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In June, Duluth is little chillier than Minneapolis - with highs of 65°F and lows of 50°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Thu) to allow enough time to fly back home.
