Napa — 4 nights

America's Wine Country

Located just 80 km (50 mi) north of San Francisco, Napa sits at the southern end of the scenic Napa Valley, one of the world's major wine regions.
Venture out of the city with trips to Castello di Amorosa (in Calistoga) and St. Helena (VGS Chateau Potelle, Beringer Vineyards, &more). Dedicate the 13th (Thu) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's much more to do: soar above the sights with a balloon tour, learn about winemaking at Robert Mondavi Winery, admire the masterpieces at Hess Persson Estates, and stop by Oxbow Public Market.

To see photos, more things to do, where to stay, and tourist information, refer to the Napa online driving holiday planner.

Minneapolis to Napa is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and train. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time (CST) to Pacific Standard Time (PST), which is usually a -2 hour difference. Traveling from Minneapolis in April, expect Napa to be a bit warmer, temps between 70°F and 44°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 16th (Sun) early enough to fly back home.

Thanks to a Mediterranean climate and idyllic location in Northern California, Napa Valley is one of the top wine producing regions in the world. This, coupled with the area's breathtaking scenery, abundance of quaint B&Bs, and exquisite local gastronomy, makes Napa Valley one of the country's most popular spots for peaceful weekends and romantic getaways. While wine tasting and vineyard tours are the traditional things to do, the region offers a variety of other attractions, including hot air balloon rides, spa treatments, and trips aboard the Napa Valley Wine Train.
