New Orleans

New Orleans
Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Appreciate the collections at The National WWII Museum and Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World. Get some historical perspective at Garden District and St. Louis Cathedral. There's still lots to do: explore the wealth of natural beauty at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, get thoroughly spooked out with a ghost and vampire tour, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Jackson Square.

New York City to New Orleans is an approximately 6-hour combination of bus and flight. You can also fly; or drive. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Central Standard Time (CST), which is usually a -1 hour difference. Plan for somewhat warmer nights when traveling from New York City in June since evenings lows in New Orleans dip to 83°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 17th (Mon) so you can travel back home.
