Just a few metro stops away from the bustle of Washington D.C., Alexandria provides a respite from the fast-paced capital.

Venture out of the city with trips to Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (in Chantilly), Gari Melchers Home and Studio (in Falmouth) and iFLY Indoor Skydiving - Loudoun (in Ashburn). There's still lots to do: visit Old Town, pause for some photo ops at U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, take in the waterfront at Old Town Waterfront, and walk around Theodore Roosevelt Island Park.

Washington DC to Alexandria is an approximately half hour car ride. You can also take a train; or take a bus. In June in Alexandria, expect temperatures between 86°F during the day and 69°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive back home.
