Traverse City might be well known for its huge cherry industry, but its position along Grand Traverse Bay in Lake Michigan endows it with fine scenery and a wealth of outdoor attractions.
Go for a jaunt from Traverse City to Empire to see Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore about 38 minutes away. There's lots more to do: get outside with Outdoor Activities, contemplate the long history of The Village at Grand Traverse Commons, stop by Cherry Republic of Traverse City, and don't miss a visit to Mission Point Lighthouse.
