The heart of Pennsylvania's famous "Dutch Country," Lancaster is one of the nation's oldest inland cities, founded in 1730.
Get a sense of the local culture at The Amish Farm and House and Landis Valley Museum. Visit Ephrata Cloister and Wheatland for their historical value. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Lancaster: Mount Hope Estate & Winery, home of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire (in Manheim) and Wolf Sanctuary of PA (in Lititz). Next up on the itinerary: see the interesting displays at Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, take an in-depth tour of Lititz Historical Foundation, play a few rounds at Water's Edge Mini-Golf, and stop by Wilbur Chocolate Candy Store.

To find photos, maps, reviews, and tourist information, read Lancaster day trip planner.

Newark to Lancaster is an approximately 2.5-hour car ride. In June in Lancaster, expect temperatures between 81°F during the day and 62°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Sat) to allow time to travel back home.
