Pismo Beach — 1 night

Pismo Beach is a city in San Luis Obispo County, in the Central Coast area of California, United States. On the 13th (Sun), look for gifts at Alapay Cellars, identify plant and animal life at Monarch Butterfly Grove, and then take a leisurely stroll along Pismo Pier. On the 14th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: explore the striking landscape at Morro Rock, examine the collection at Morro Bay Skateboard Museum, then enjoy the sand and surf at Eldwaylen Ocean Park, and finally walk around Margo Dodd Park.

Palm Springs to Pismo Beach is an approximately 5.5-hour car ride. You can also fly; or drive; or do a combination of bus and train. In November, Pismo Beach is slightly colder than Palm Springs - with highs of 73°F and lows of 48°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to Big Sur.

A sparsely populated area with stunning views, Big Sur attracts artists and tourists traveling California’s scenic Highway 1.
On the 15th (Tue), enjoy the sand and surf at Pfeiffer State Beach, stroll through Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, then trek along Partington Cove, and finally take in the views from Bixby Bridge.

Traveling from Pismo Beach in November, expect nights in Big Sur to be about the same, around 47°F, while days are little chillier, around 65°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Tue) early enough to drive to Monterey.

Monterey — 2 nights

Monterey is a city in the U.S. state of California, on the southern edge of Monterey Bay on California's Central Coast. Start off your visit on the 16th (Wed): get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Monterey Bay Aquarium, cruise along 17-Mile Drive, and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Asilomar State Beach. Keep things going the next day: appreciate the history behind The Cannery Row Monument, appreciate the extensive heritage of Pacific Grove Oceanview Boulevard, then immerse yourself in nature at Point Lobos, and finally kick back and relax at Carmel River State Beach.
