Jim Thorpe — 4 nights

Jim Thorpe is a borough and the county seat of Carbon County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. You've now added Lakota Wolf Preserve to your itinerary. Get outdoors at Camelback Mountain Ski Resort and Lacawac Sanctuary. Discover out-of-the-way places like Austin T Blakeslee Natural Area and Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Jim Thorpe: Kalahari Waterparks (in Pocono Manor), Blue Mountain Resort (in Palmerton) and Pocono Snake & Animal Farm (in East Stroudsburg). The adventure continues: explore the striking landscape at Boulder Field, trot along with a tour on horseback, immerse yourself in nature at Hickory Run State Park, and admire the sheer force of Hawks Falls.

For where to stay, traveler tips, other places to visit, and tourist information, read Jim Thorpe day trip planning tool.

Orlando to Jim Thorpe is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Orlando in December, things will get much colder in Jim Thorpe: highs are around 44°F and lows about 29°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Fri) so you can fly back home.

Taking up the better part of northeastern Pennsylvania, the Pocono Mountains Region contains more than 6,200 sq km (2,400 sq mi) of rolling mountains, waterfalls, lakes, forests, and streams. A year-round vacation getaway, the region once attracted mostly honeymooners. Today, the Poconos draw adventure-seekers from around the globe, arriving in throngs to explore one of the southernmost ski areas in the United States. Famous for its pristine nature teeming with native wildlife, the region is a quick car ride from New England or New York. The Pocono Mountains do not encompass any major cities--the wilderness area dotted with small towns and natural attractions makes this one of the least polluted portions of the region.
