Ogunquit — 1 night

Ogunquit means "beautiful place by the sea" in the language of the Native Americans who inhabited the region long ago, and this remains an accurate description of this holiday destination today.
Kick off your visit on the 26th (Mon): take in the dramatic natural features at Perkins Cove, appreciate the extensive heritage of Marginal Way Walkway, and then kick back and relax at Ogunquit Beach. On the next day, look for gifts at Scalawags Pet Boutique, then take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports, then enjoy the sand and surf at Wells Beach, and finally visit a coastal fixture at Nubble Lighthouse.

New York City to Ogunquit is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi; or do a combination of train, bus, and taxi. Traveling from New York City in July, things will get slightly colder in Ogunquit: highs are around 81°F and lows about 58°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 27th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Burlington.

Burlington is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Vermont and the seat of Chittenden County. On the 28th (Wed), stop by Lake Champlain Chocolates, hunt for treasures at Church Street Marketplace, then stroll through Burlington Bike Path, and finally walk around Waterfront Park. Here are some ideas for day two: examine the collection at Shelburne Museum, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Stowe Recreation Path, and then take in the awesome beauty at Mount Mansfield State Forest.
