One of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country, Tucson is a city on a cultural crossroads, with European, Native American, Mexican, and Asian residents blending and sometimes conflicting with one another.

Tucson is known for museums, nature, and historic sites. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: get a new perspective on nature at Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, get great views at Gates Pass, explore the stunning scenery at Sabino Canyon, and see the interesting displays at Pima Air and Space Museum.

Phoenix to Tucson is an approximately 2-hour car ride. You can also take a bus; or fly. Expect little chillier evenings in Tucson when traveling from Phoenix in February, with lows around 44°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Wed) so you can drive to Tombstone.

Founded in 1877 as a mining camp, Tombstone became one of the most storied towns of the "Wild West." As one of the last frontier boomtowns in the United States, Tombstone prospered between 1880 and 1890, attracting cattle rustlers and outlaws.

Kick off your visit on the 11th (Thu): examine the collection at Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park and then immerse yourself in nature at Kartchner Caverns State Park. On the next day, take an in-depth tour of O.K. Corral, explore the different monuments and memorials at Boothilll Graveyard, and then delve into the mystery of Bird Cage Theatre.

Traveling by car from Tucson to Tombstone takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and taxi; or do a combination of train and taxi. In February in Tombstone, expect temperatures between 66°F during the day and 40°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Fri) so you can go by car back home.
