For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Shop till you drop at Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Gallery and Fish Market. Get outdoors at Sun Bay and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. There's lots more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at La Chiva, tour the pleasant surroundings at Navio Beach, get a taste of the local shopping with Gallery Galleon, and look for all kinds of wild species at Vieques National Wildlife Refuge.

Columbus, USA to Isla de Vieques is an approximately 10-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight, shuttle, and ferry. The time zone difference when traveling from Columbus to Isla de Vieques is 1 hour. Prepare for much hotter weather when traveling from Columbus in March: high temperatures in Isla de Vieques hover around 84°F and lows are around 72°F. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 17th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel to Carolina.

You can do a combination of flight and car from Isla de Vieques to Carolina in an hour. Alternatively, you can do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry and shuttle. In March, plan for daily highs up to 85°F, and evening lows to 73°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Thu) early enough to drive to Ponce.

A seaside playground in the Caribbean, Rincon was a small agricultural and fishing town until it hosted the 1968 World Surfing Championship.
Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Jobos Beach and Montones Beach. Step out of the city life by going to Parque Nacional de las Cavernas del Rio Camuy and Domes Beach. With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Take a break from the city and head to Flamenco Beach and Tamarindo Beach. Visit Zoni Beach and Melones Beach for some beach relaxation. There's much more to do: head off the coast to Culebrita Island, tour the pleasant surroundings at Playa Punta Soldado Beach, browse the collection at Culebra Public Library, and kick back and relax at Brava Beach.
