Newark to Lake George is an approximately 3.5-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of flight and car. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Newark in December: high temperatures in Lake George hover around 36°F and lows are around 21°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Tue) so you can go by car to Lake Placid.

Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, United States. Step off the beaten path and head to Mount Van Hoevenberg and St. Eustace Episcopal Church. Escape the urban bustle at Adirondack Wildlife Refuge and The Wild Center. You can drive from Lake George to Lake Placid in 1.5 hours. Another option is to do a combination of train and bus. Expect slightly colder temperatures when traveling from Lake George in December; daily highs in Lake Placid reach 31°F and lows reach 14°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 27th (Fri) so you can go by car to Malone.

Kick off your visit on the 28th (Sat): steep yourself in history at Wilder Homestead and then fly down the slopes at Titus Mountain.

Traveling by car from Lake Placid to Malone takes 1.5 hours. December in Malone sees daily highs of 33°F and lows of 18°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Sat) to allow time to travel to Old Forge.

Old Forge is a hamlet (and census-designated place) on New York State Route 28 in the town of Webb in Herkimer County, New York. On the 29th (Sun), take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Bald Mountain, then tour the pleasant surroundings at McCauley Mountain, and then steep yourself in history at Town of Webb Historic Association.
