Despite its laid-back college vibe, Austin is an influential center for politics, technology, film, and music.
On the 1st (Mon), see the interesting displays at LBJ Presidential Library, then admire the striking features of Texas State Capitol, then admire the striking features of The Driskill, and finally test your problem-solving skills at The Escape Game Austin. Here are some ideas for day two: snap pictures at Congress Avenue Bridge / Austin Bats, stroll through Lady Bird Lake Hike-and-Bike Trail, then witness a stunning natural landmark at Barton Springs Pool, and finally tour the pleasant surroundings at Mount Bonnell.

Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Portland: Ogunquit (Perkins Cove & Marginal Way Walkway), Old First Parish Burying Ground (in Rockport) and Dolphin & Whale Watching (in Gloucester). Next up on the itinerary: buy something for everyone on your list at Faneuil Hall Marketplace, wander the streets of Old Port, explore the different monuments and memorials at Granary Burying Ground, and explore the world behind art at Portland Museum of Art.
