6 days in Austin & San Antonio Itinerary

Despite its laid-back college vibe, Austin is an influential center for politics, technology, film, and music.

Shop till you drop at Round Rock Premium Outlets and South Congress Avenue. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Garrison Brothers Distillery and Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site. Venture out of the city with trips to Willow City Loop (in Fredericksburg), Lewis Wines (in Johnson City) and William Chris Vineyards (in Hye). There's still lots to do: immerse yourself in nature at Inks Lake State Park, admire the striking features of The Driskill, take an in-depth tour of Bullock Texas State History Museum, and wander the streets of 6th Street.

Los Angeles to Austin is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and bus; or drive. The time zone difference moving from Pacific Standard Time (PST) to Central Standard Time (CST) is 2 hours. Traveling from Los Angeles in June, things will get somewhat warmer in Austin: highs are around 93°F and lows about 73°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Thu) early enough to drive to San Antonio.
