On the 26th (Thu), get to know the fascinating history of Freedom Trail, then take a stroll through North End, and then admire the masterpieces at Museum of Fine Arts. Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
Kick off your visit on the 28th (Sat): visit a coastal fixture at Portland Head Light, take a stroll through Old Port, and then explore the world behind art at Portland Museum of Art. Here are some ideas for day two: appreciate the extensive heritage of Marginal Way Walkway, then explore the striking landscape at Perkins Cove, and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Ogunquit Beach.
