You can fly from Boston to San Juan in 7 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of flight and car. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Atlantic Standard Time (AST), which is usually a 1 hour difference. With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Start off your visit on the 9th (Sat): get lost in a book at Culebra Public Library and then enjoy the sand and surf at Flamenco Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Punta Soldado Beach, enjoy the sand and surf at Zoni Beach, and then head off the coast to Culebrita Island.
