Oconaluftee Indian Village and Museum of the Cherokee Indian will appeal to museum buffs. Get a sense of the local culture at Mountain Farm Museum and Smoky Mountain Trains Museum. Get out of town with these interesting Cherokee side-trips: Great Smoky Mountains National Park (Spruce Flats Falls, Upper Tremont Road in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, &more). There's still lots to do: get engrossed in the history at Swain County Heritage Museum, steep yourself in history at Mingus Mill, take a tour by water with Rivers Edge Outfitters, and trot along with a tour on horseback.
