Denver

— 3 nights

Mile-High City

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Take a break from the city and head to Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center and Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art and Center for Colorado Women's History at the Byers-Evans House. Next up on the itinerary: see what you can catch with a fishing tour, examine the collection at Forney Museum of Transportation, admire the landmark architecture of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and relax and rejuvenate at Healing Waters Mind and Body Float Studio.

For ratings, more things to do, maps, and more tourist information, you can read our Denver itinerary planning site.
