Escalante is a city in Garfield County, Utah, United States located along Utah Scenic Byway 12 (SR-12) in the south central part of the state. Change things up with these side-trips from Escalante: Bryce Canyon National Park (Sunrise Point, Rim Trail, &more), Kodachrome Basin State Park (in Cannonville) and Natural Bridge (in Bryce). There's lots more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Calf Creek Falls Recreation Area, take in the dramatic natural features at Peekaboo Gulch, take in breathtaking views at Little Wild Horse Canyon, and cruise along Hole In The Rock Road.

To find more things to do, reviews, and more tourist information, read Escalante day trip site.

Salt Lake City to Escalante is an approximately 5.5- hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus, shuttle, and car. Expect little chillier weather when traveling from Salt Lake City in May: highs in Escalante hover around 63°F, while lows dip to 31°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Wed) to allow time to travel back home.
